(PRWEB) June 11, 2006 -- Work/Life Balance is the âbuzzâ in corporate America and âLife Coachingâ is becoming a booming industry, but Life Coach and Powerful Intentions co-founder, Chris Tinney, says America still lags the rest of the world when it comes to understanding the importance of work/life balance.
He points to a new survey north of the border that shows Canadian businesses are much more supportive than American businesses.
The survey asked, âHow supportive is your company of its employees' efforts to achieve work/life balance?" Fifty three percent of employees and 45 percent of all managers surveyed said they felt their company was âvery supportiveâ. Only 5 percent of employees felt their company was ânot supportive at allâ.
The Survey was paid for by OfficeTeam, a large Canadian Staffing Agency. The Executive Director of OfficeTeam, Diane Domeyer, pointed out that as little as a decade ago; the survey results might have been different. "Telecommuting, job-share and flextime options were once the exception. Today, these and other employee benefits are increasingly
common."
Tinney said there is a huge boom is Life Coaching Programs because not everyone can afford a Life Coach and "Companies cannot afford to ignore the issue of work/life balance. We now know for a fact doing so will negatively affect your bottom line. Providing employees the flexibility to address personal commitments, without compromising the needs of the business is the difference between a good working environment and a great one where everyone feels heard, appreciated and understood"
What is Work Life Balance? Tinney says, âBalance is the ability to achieve a happy medium between what you would consider to be your minimum and your maximum. The Minimum being the least you can get by with and maximum being to most you are capable of. The optimum is the place from which are most in alignment with the end result you desireâ. He says the launch of web sites like www.FindaLifeCoach.org prove people are seeking answers.
Employees are not the only ones who gain from these programs, Domeyer noted. "Giving staff choices for how they accomplish business objectives can
improve morale, increase retention rates, and build both leadership and time-management skills," she said.
